Eiffel tower is the iron lattice tower in Paris, France. It is named after Gustave Eiffel, the engineer whose company built and designed the tower. Initially it was criticized by some of the French artists for its design, but today it has become the most recognisable structure and the icon of France globally. This tower is the tallest in Paris. The construction of this tower started by 28th January 1887 and completed on 15th march 1889. The opening was held on 31st march 1889. The height of the roof of Eiffel tower is 986 ft and the height of the top floor is 896 ft. It has 3 floors and 9 elevators. And it is the most paid monument by the visitors in the whole world.
There were 250 million people visited the tower in 2010. The tower is (1,063 ft) 324 metres tall. Its square base is (410 ft) 125 metres on a side. The tower surpassed the monument of Washington to become the tallest structure in the world. It has 3 levels for the visitors. The first and the second level is the restaurant and the top most level is (906 ft) 276 m above the ground. The cost of the tickets was 2 francs for the first floor, 3 francs for the second floor and 5 francs for the top floor. To maintain the beauty of this tower, 50 to 60 tonnes of paint are used every 7 years. This tower maintained its record height from 1889 to 1930.
